OK, looks like it depends on the definition of a manufacturer's "sample" vs. a manufacturer's "advertising" chip/jeton/plaque.

The items with advertising on them are often called "samples" in ChipGuide terms ... and often elsewhere too.

It appears that you limit "samples" to items that have no writing on them? I think most would use the more expansive definition, but no problem if you prefer the limits in your definition.
