Barbara and I spent three nights in Nice, on the Promenade... during a 14-night stay. The hotel had a pool on the roof... and we enjoyed walking down to the port each morning and having those hogfish sandwiches... At night we would try out those small bistros around the corner from Ruhl. Then we moved over to a hotel right on the beach in Monaco for a few nights before taking the train to Switzerland, where we would take the steamer over to Evian each night... We also took the train to Brigg, got on a postal bus which took us down into Italy over the Simplon Pass and visiting small villages where the mail was delivered and probably unknown on any tourist itinerary... The best thing about those postal buses, is that you can get off wherever you want and get back on on the return trip. Otherwise, Nice is our favorite part of France. Prior, I was running all over France in the early-60's, and early-70's on the Med... always on a beach in some small village; of which some of them weren't even on the map at the time. I was single, in my twenties... and enjoyed every minute of it.
