Jim, Where in Texas are you hunting ? My buddy has a nice ranch in Waco/ Crawford Texas. Lots of wild boar. A 308 is what I use. Make sure you get a nice clean kill shot, and then put another in his head for good measure. They are nasty, and when they are wounded they are deadly.
