Re: Why were 1 cent chips produced?

The Artichoke's Poker Palace chips (1-cent & 5-cent) were used as instructional chips, showing people how to play poker. It was 1 table, and used weekly (I think) or perhaps daily? I was never there when in use, but remember seeing the promotional info. Something like -- get a few stacks of chips for $1, learn how to play correctly (no string bets, bet in turn, how to bet & raise, etc.) and experience real casino poker for an hour.

The earlier Artichoke Joe's 1-cent & 5-cent chips used the same way I think.

I'm sure they watched the chips. Couldn't leave the table or be cashed in. Handled like tournament or NCV chips.

In contrast, the 10-cent chip shown in the pic was used for live 10-cent craps, I think. And the 50-cent chip was used on the 21 table.
