I had a brief conversation with the Poker Room manager of the Casino del Sol and Casino of the Sun. He relays the following.....

Management is pressing him to have a soft opening on the 9th of this month. He wants the 10th. Official opening is the 14th. The new chips will only be used at the new facility (Casino del Sol). The old chips will continue to be used at the old facility, but eventualy will be replaced with the new rack. Destruction is the plan for the old chips.

I have been assured that all of the chips I will be getting will be from new boxes ( I will not have to buy them from a dealer or at the sign-in counter.) I told him that I had orders for around $800.00 and he was pleased! I counseled him about a GO and he will think about it, but their past consideration said no. He is also open to a Anniversay chip tied to the opening of the first property (about five years ago, I think).

He has asked me to re-contact him on the 8th and he will tell me the day and time of opening. My earlier offer is still available. I suggest that everyone interested in these chips do it now as they will look like Desert Diamond chips very soon (very worn).
