Yes. My response was to a question asking why five dice all the same number if there are only two pairs that can be used. Followed with, is the fifth die discarded?
With one die damaged, the table now has four dice with the matching number. If one of those dice is damaged, the table now has three dice with the same number and allowing the table to still have one pair office with the same numb. If one of those three dice are damaged the table has its last pair of dice. That stick of five dice allowed the table to move on to the next die, and then the next die, and....
