I am visiting America more often Archie! ...at least more often than the average bear.

After checking the Delta website yesterday to find out the status of my flights next week, and finding that they aren't even flying into my original destination at this time, I went to the airport to get the skinny on what was happening. My destination flights have been totally removed from their schedule. They had to book me on alternative flights on two different airlines!

I've been trying to get a flight to Vegas for the last weekend of October at a reasonable rate. I found a couple of flights today on Travelocity that would have worked, but when I went to the airline's website, the listed fare for the same flights was more than double what they were on Travelocity. I pay cash for everything these days, so the airline website prices are what I'd pay at the counter at the airport, and I'm not gonna pay $400+ for a plane ticket unless I know that I'll make enough money to cover that cost by taking the trip. If the Paris still had the French roulette table, I wouldn't think twice about going....

....and, from my house to Vegas is an 815-mile drive. You'd have to start somewhere in South Carolina and drive to Maine to log those miles in a car on the east coast. Soooo, NJ, NY, close enough!
