I’m trying to create a timeline of when different clay chip edge molds were produced by different manufacturers. I was hoping that someone on the board might be able to help me out with a question about Paul-Son Top Hat and Cane chips.
Several people have documented how after Paul-Son acquired the Christy Jones Top Hat and Cane chip mold, the Burt Co. continued to manufacture for Paul-Son into the late 1970s the shiny hat Christy and Jones style chip. As an example of that, David Sarles just recently uploaded to the ChipGuide a Burt/Paul-Son order card for the Las Vegas Club dated 7/8/1974. http://chipguide.themogh.org/cg_showpic2.php?cg=245425
My question is when did Paul-Son start manufacturing their own Top Hat and Cane, LCV and SCV chips?
I’ve been going through the ChipGuide to try to figure that out and I found Honest John’s $5 and $25 chips listed as being H&C LCV from 1965; http://chipguide.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=NVLVHJ&v=2664639002 .
They all have the Paul-Son associated non-concave fuzzy inserts, so they are probably not Burt produced. Do you think that date in the ChipGuide is correct?
The earliest TH&C SCV chips I could find in the ChipGuide was a Gold Strike Inn $5 SCV chip, listed as being produced in 1966. http://chipguide.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=NVBCGS&v=3253995142 Do you think that date is correct?
Did Paul-Son start manufacturing those chips that early? In other words, did Paul-Son and the Burt Co. overlap in producing TH&C chips for more than 10 years?
Thank you for any insights,
Jeff
