Shirley's Bar, Silver Peak,part II

In the 1930s, Jack Douglass (later an owner of the Cal-Neva) and Louie Benetti formed Nevada
Novelty, a slot and jukebox route company serving Hazen, Fallon, Tonopah, Goldfield and other
small Nevada communities. They bought out several of the bars they serviced including Shirley's
in Silver Peak which was in decline during WW II. They had the building cut in two pieces and
moved to Gabbs which was booming due to the mining of magnesium for the war effort. There
was only one other bar there, the Toiyabe Club also known as the Bucket of Blood. They named
the place the Pastime Club with two 21s and a crap game. They were doing a booming business
when the place burned to the ground after only two weeks in 1943. I have been unable to find
any reference to a Pastime Club or anything that fits that time frame.
