I think it's wonderful that Pete can enjoy all the benefits of America while badmouthing it. His form of patriotism just rubs me the wrong way. He seems blind to the improvements that have occurred in the past 50 years. I'm not his enemy, nor is the American government (that he fears more than terrorism by his own admission). I do not see most of his charges as being at epidemic proportions as he believes.
1) I have not personally witnessed any killing by the government.
2) I don't know many in prison wrongful or otherwise.
3) I have seen incidents of right violations (in my opinion) it would be hard for me to say "Trampled every minute of every day"
4) I have heard of (but not seen personally) property taken by IRS or DEA.
5) Seen families destroyed from many causes, but not by government
6) Same with careers, many ruined but not by government
7) Not sure about voices silenced (I can't list much there)

I do not deny that every one of these things have happened somewhere, I just don’t believe it is condoned by our government or that it is in epidemic stages.

IF this was in such epidemic proportions that I was afraid of my government MORE than terrorist, I would think I could at least list 10 or so incidents personally in each category. But I can't. I have seen more negative changes in society in my lifetime than government.
Q: How many flights have people been denied access due to discrimination (any) as opposed to flights that have taken place without a single problem? Was this caused by our government?
