coins/currency

Thanks for your helpful post. I was not aware that India had adopted a currency symbol.

Although I do not collect Indian chips, I collect foreign coins (including India). These are notes I kept for my British Indian coins:

3 pies = 1 pice (also called paisa)
4 pice = 1 anna
16 annas = 1 rupee
15 rupees = 1 mohur

Those are from a time when Britain was still using farthings, pennies, shillings, crowns, etc. For Americans like me, anything that is not expressed as decimals (100 cents = 1 dollar, 100 centavos = 1 peso, 100 centimes = 1 franc) can be very confusing.
