During the extended Coronavirus Quarantine, when the weather allows I have been doing some Outdoor Projects along with updating my Chip Collections. Shown below are photos of a landscaping Project I recently completed along with a photo Tour of the early Spring foliage, gardens, etc around our yard.
Outdoor Project #1
I had to remove a lot of under growth from a semi-neglected area in the back of the house that had gotten a little out of hand. After clearing away the unwanted clutter. I went to the local garden center and picked up about 1 1/2 tone of stone. I shoveled the stone into the van and made two trips back and forth to get all the stone I needed. I made some beds out of stone blocks, Trex (left over from the deck Project) and plastic.
On a side note -I have used Trex to outline almost ever flower bed around the house. I got it so cheap years ago and I bend and shape it to form the edge of the beds. If you look closely you will see the Trex in many of the photos. The Trex is very strong and will not rot or deteriorate. Although the Trex retails for about $50 for a 20 foot length I got all the Trex for the deck and other projects for about $8 per piece - so it works for me.
Back to the Project - after getting the stone I needed - I put down the weed barrier and spread around the stone to finish the project. I them went back to the garden center and got a van full of black mulch and spread that around the new and existing beds. This Project is just a warm up for a few other Projects you will not believe an "old worn out" 74 year old would tackle !!
My next post will be a contest to identify an object we purchased on a trip to North Carolina last year that we now use as part of our landscaping - so stay tuned and see if you can guess what it was in it's former life.
