Re: Ugh... please no

Ugh, another massive disadvantage to anyone not already in the USA.

I like going to the convention to dig through binders & buckets on the vendor tables, because paying cash for chips and getting them immediately means I'm finally on an equal playing field with American chippers. (I'm in Canada.)

Under almost any other circumstances, I have to pay way more in fees to send PayPal, I have to pay way more in shipping costs (if the seller will even ship to Canada), and I have to wait far far longer for anything to arrive. And that's if the seller takes PayPal at all (as at least one frequent seller here on the board does not, and I have to risk mailing cash.)

I was definitely disappointed that this year's (live) convention was cancelled, but I also had the distinct thought that "Well, at least no one else gets to go, either." Setting up a virtual convention for the purposes of seminars, live chats, etc. seems like a fun idea, but setting up a bunch of virtual vendor tables seems like just another barrier to non-Americans.

Anyway that's my 2 cents (which is about 3.35 cents CAD with exchange rate and transaction fees.)
