30 or so years ago we decided to go to Vegas on Thanksgiving weekend with our two young kids from our house in Milwaukee. We had the last flight out on that Wednesday when they decided the plane at the stopover in St. Louis was over booked. Since it was already after dinner I decided to take the bump and told the kids not to worry that we would get the first plane out in the morning and that they would just be sleeping in St. Louis instead of Vegas. They were really not happy so I had to bribe them with $50 each to stay the night. We got into Vegas around lunch time and Cindy wanted to eat at the Dunes. So as we were waiting for our meal the kids played Keno. The youngest (age 5) hits for $98. She has been in town 30 minutes on this trip and is already up $150! She has been this lucky her whole life.
My other quick Vegas story is a few years ago I went to one of the 24 hour Walgreens stores on the strip around 5:30 in the morning. Now in Vegas there are so many homeless people that you can't find a cigarette butt on the street that has not been smoked all the way down. As I walk up the one step into the store what do I see but a $100 Palms chip laying on the ground right in front of the door. Go figure.
