Mayor Carolyn Goodman (Independent / leans-conservative) seems to be at odds with the Democrat Governor of Nevada on a number of occasions.

The Governor will call the shots -- timing & process -- on statewide reopening, though the casino companies will have some leverage too. Nevada's budget depends on them!

Mayor Goodman only has influence on the downtown LV casinos anyway. The others are in in Clark County or various other cities -- Paradise; Henderson; NLV, etc.

Just my guess, but the NV Governor may want to coordinate timing with the Pacific Coast coalition of states (CA / OR / WA). If Nevada opens and California is still closed there may be a stampede that Nevada's not ready for. And with the national and international visitors that Nevada typically hosts, it's a pretty complex problem to solve.

I'm still optimistic that we can sort this out. Visited the grocery store this morning. Good protection & protocols. I think the plexiglas checker's shields are a great idea. My visit was orderly and quick.
