When I became a coin and token collector as a kid, I went to the last automat, which was on 42nd St, right by Grand Central Station. As I recall, they had two tokens in use at the time, one of which was brass. I guess everything was one price or the other. I still have the tokens that I obtained that day all those decades ago.
