The Hawthorne Club started out as the Hawthorne Pool Hall, then became the Hawthorne Bar,
then finally the Hawthorne Club. I used to stop in whenever I was in town. It was a dark,
classy place with potted plants and heavy red curtains. The oak bar was one of those curvy ones
with nice padded chairs. There was a lone 21 table facing the bar in the back. I remember
the owner giving me some obsolete chips from the basement. The bar is now in a closed
lounge just off the Main Street. The large vertical sign is at the north end of town. The El Capitan
eventually bought all those buildings and tore them down in anticipation of building something
but it never happened.
