This happened many years ago, when I was attending one of my first conventions. Current Las Vegas $1 chips were selling for $3 each at the time. But the $1 chip from the Ultra New Town Casino, pictured below, was selling for $10 each. My plan was drive up to the casino, get some $1 chips and make some quick money selling and trading them. I knew that it was in a dangerous neighborhood, so I went in the early afternoon, in the daylight, to be safe. The casino was the only building left standing on the block, other then the casino there were only empty lots strewn with debris and broken glass. I got a parking spot right outside the entrance, no more than 10 feet from the front door. I looked around before I got out of the car and saw groups of men mulling about. I quickly realized that they were there to sell drugs to cars passing by. Seeing what was going on outside the casino, I could only wonder what was going on inside. I decided it wasn't worth a try, started up the car and drove away.
