~~~ it was not uncommon for someone like Caro or any engraving house to have inventory with reverse denominations and serial numbers where all they would have to do at a later date is simply add whatever the customer wanted on the obverse. Even wheel plaque size/shape pieces with cut corners to assist in stacking purposes along the wheel were sold to private buyers with serial numbers and monogram where normally that shape would otherwise be of no interest for a home set.
