I looked at two charts. One was a chart of Ice Cream consumption by month, the second chart was a chart of drownings by month.

I noticed that ice cream consumption rose sharply in June, July and August. I also noticed that drowings rose sharply in June, July and August.

Therefore I came to the conclusion that Ice Cream consumption causes drownings.

Make sense . . .

Its called a spurious relationship.
