Shalom is the hebrew word for peace, it also means hello and goodbye. Our wish for the coming year is a world of Shalom. We know that we will not have Shalom until those who are responsible for the World Trade Center disaster and other acts of terrorism are brought to justice. Action is needed if we want Shalom. At our service tonight and through the High Holy Days, we will say a prayer for our Country and its leaders. May they have the wisdom to lead us to Shalom and the courage and conviction to route out those who would take Shalom from us. May our country be an example to the rest of the world for the help we bring to those in need and our resolve to bring Shalom to everyone. Shalom.
