Well, I hope you're right, Bob. I'm certainly no expert on nuclear physics. I do remember a news story shortly following the breakup of the USSR about a couple of briefcase sized nuclear devices that were not properly accounted for. Maybe it was just milli-tons .
And tonight's 60 Minutes episode did nothing to bolster my faith in airport security. But freedom includes risks. I'd rather die free than live in the sort of police state that would be required to guarantee our safely. And then it still couldn't be guaranteed. Whatever security measures we take, if terrorists are given the opportunity, they'll think of a new form of attack.
I'm all in favor of getting back to our lives and not letting terrorists control our thoughts and actions. And I'm definitely in favor of kicking the crap out of the bastrds. I doubt we can "teach them a lesson," or change what they believe. People willing to blow themselves up for a cause are hard to reason with. I do think we can eliminate their ability to operate, if we have the balls to. If anybody's got the balls, it looks like Dubya does.
