I was told (back in the day) the name chosen "Boardwalk Regency" was because they did not want the name "Ceasars" associated with the property in case "the A.C. experiment" failed. With the tremendous success of Resorts International and the hugely successful grand opening of Boardwalk Regency a year later,, the name was changed to "Caesars Boardwalk Regency". Don't know if the story is true or not, but that's what I heard.
