I've had pretty good luck most places. Never been able to get a "yes" at MGM, though. Got about 10 "no's" at Orleans, until one person took pity on me and sold me one. Southpoint was happy to sell their new $2 chips to me and my friends shortly after they came out, but only 1 per customer. Funny how the policy varies between casinos & even between casinos owned by the same company. Some places are jerks about it, some places are cool. You just have to find the right person, on the right day, in the right mood.
Went to the Stratosphere poker room about a month before rebrand. Poker Floor didn't want to sell even 1 to me. She offered to call the casino manager for approval (eye roll). Guess I caught them on the right day, because I got approved & bought a barrel. I didn't get to cherry pick, so definitely casino used.
After the guy on the phone gave his approval for me to buy these chips, I asked the poker Floor:
Question: Is this an unusual request? Don't guys come in here all the time wanting to buy 1 or 2 drop chips as a souvenir?
Answer: No, why would anybody want that?
