For TRUE "hot pink" and orange, make sure the optical scanner light is "CCD" NOT "CIS" !!!!

If you are using a Mac computer running the latest OS (10.5 Catalina), then with most older (and cheaper new) Epson scanners, their updated drivers may NOT be supported.
