The buzz was that the casino guarded its chips with a vengeance - several other collectors tried to snag a few and were stopped by Security, walked to the cashier, and made to turn them all in. And at least one person then had his club card destroyed.

Whether the casino manager issuing this decree was gone, or Harrah's had its grand opening (as opposed to a soft opening) and chips were now plentiful, I do not know, but when I went, I was able to buy a variety of ones, two-fifties, and fives from the tables. But not wanting to tussle with Security, I promptly went to the Men's Room . . . and stuffed them all into my shoes.

The cameras might have noticed I had "grown an inch" while gaming, but the guards at the door did not stop me. It was raining that night and they were not attired in raincoats. I suspected that they would not bother me once I stepped away from the overhang and into the wet parking lot, and I was right. Now my only problem was driving my pickup truck with a foot full of chips. Squirmed around the cab for a few moments and got them out, then hit the gas and sped outta there, mission accomplished.
