Hi Gang,
Here's another E-Bay description, which is most likely WAY OFF BASE.
-----------------------------------
Here's a posing BABE RUTH $10 silver strike from the Las Vegas casino NEW YORK, NEW YORK. his silver strike is illegal and may be altered in the near future. Major League Baseball doesn't limit the use of player likenesses (that's up to the player or his estate), BUT Major League Baseball is very strict about the use of team logos!
Someone erred and allowed the engraver to put a New York Yankee logo on Babe's cap. A very big no-no! If you check breakfast cereal baseball cards or other casino chips featuring baseball players you'll see that all team logos have been removed. As I mentioned, Major League Baseball is very hard-nosed about this.
High bidder pays $2.50 for shipping and insurance within the United States. Personal checks delay shipping by 10 days. Money orders receive same day shipping. Good Luck!
----------------------------------
If one were to check the EDGE of any Babe Ruth Silver Strike token, you would find an ingraving noting an inscription whereby the Babe Ruth tokens are covered by a copyright. And I would be almost assured that the corporation behind Babe Ruth's likeness has gotten permission to use the NY logo on the cap or are paying some sort of royalties.
But to come straight out and state that the token is ILLEGAL(or a possible ERROR) probably without having checked into wheather it is or not looks like someone is trying to make the more valuable than it really is.
Also these tokens have been out for a LONG time now and if there was a problem with MLB not allowing it I am sure by now these tokens would have been long removed.
Hopefully, I can get someone at Anchor to talk about this token sometime next week. But I doubt it.
