The Bon Aire was a short-lived club open from 1945 to 1946 located at 3415 S. 5th st. (later the
strip) about where the Casino Royal is today. The place was featured in the Sept. 1945 (vol.1 no.1).
issue of "Nevada Life" a short-lived entertainment magazine owned partly by Hank Greenspun. The
place was renamed the Copa as shown in the 1949 photo I found on the Internet. I'm not sure how long it operated but by 1956 it was known as Louigi's Broiler. Louigi's is shown here in a screenshot
from a video posted on Vintage Vegas. It was later relocated to 3729 LV Blvd. across from the Tower
of Pizza. They operated one 21 game and two slots that still had glass from the San Souci. If you
ordered a pizza they had it made at the Tower. I guess they didn't have a pizza oven.
A second Copa Lounge operated at 3103 LV Blvd. from 1955 to 1964 just south of the Desert
Inn. They had live gaming-probably 21 and the chips are among my favorites. Bill Borland told me
he spent so much time at the Copa that his car was programmed to go there by itself! Yet a third
Copa Lounge was located in the Mr. Sy's center located at the Strip and Convention Center Dr. I
patronized this place often.
