The St. John's Casino, Habana, Cuba, is listed in MOGH/Chip Guide as a "never opened" casino. The chips are mainly in the "S" (or "Lazy S") mold, plus a few Weave mold. See example of the $1 below (pic from MOGH/Chip Guide).
My question is -- what's the story behind these chips? Were they made but not delivered around the time of the Cuban revolution (late 1950's era)? Or were they made later, or what?
Are they hard to find & expensive, or are unshipped quantities around somewhere?
They are an attractive set: $1, $5, $25 and $100, plus some back-ups. They have been seen on eBay, though I haven't been looking in earnest.
Just trying to get some background info before deciding on interest level in them. Thanks in advance!
