In this IOTD, I mention a new name – Dean Sanders.

Although his name is new, his contribution to the IOTD team has been integral from the very beginning. Even before I starting giving Gene information to post, Dean has been working behind the scenes as our very own “Friend of the Hobby”.

Gene, in some ways, was a very peculiar guy. (This of course was no secret to anyone who knew him.) He respected privacy above everything else. When Dean said he didn’t need credit for his findings, Gene interpreted that as him wanting to be kept a secret – thus the “Friend of the Hobby” was born.

Dean, a fellow Texan, is a gifted researcher. He has been instrumental in tracking down some incredible information and we’re all lucky he has been so helpful to the IOTD team.

Although now unmasked, Dean Sanders will always be a true friend to the hobby.
