SNCCC monthly meeting report for 08/13/2019!
Brought to you by your ex-president and currently SNCCC Publicity Director, Sheldon Smith!
POSSIBLY THE BEST MEETING OF THE YEAR SO FAR!! Guests are always welcome and members are always welcome too! Membership is only $12.00 a year. Bill Lange FLEW in this time! Attendance was brisk and may have actually touched 50! That's right, an all time high! We are now at 239 members, an all time high too!
Our Guest Speaker this month was Dustin Wax, Executive Director of The Burlesque Hall of Fame. Dustin holds a Masters in cultural anthropology from the New School for Social Research in New York City, and has taught anthropology and gender studies at both University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the College of Southern Nevada since 2003. He is strongly committed to Nevada arts and culture, has served on the Boards of several local arts and cultural organizations, and currently sits on the board of the Nevada Museums Association. His slide presentation on Burlesque Queens was very interesting and many were well known to our members!
The next meeting is: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH!
The auction was great with spirited bidding on a wide range of mostly casino chips! Our auctioneer Dale Horyna was in fine voice, inviting spirited bidding! Table layouts sold well this time too, as did slot glass! The raffle did well for first place $83, and there were many 2nd-3rd etc. winners as well! Ron Gaudette did great video work for us as well and assisted the presenter with his equipment, well done Ron!
President Vergatos ran the meeting in his usual competent manner and a great time was had by all! Jerry announced that his wife Cindy had accepted an executive position promotion at IGT and they were relocating to Arizona . Nevada's loss is Arizona's gain! Jerry is not surrendering his duties and will now be a commuter to Las Vegas! We wish him and Cindy safe travels!
Tree Shields handled the members badge distributions! Secretary Follis expounded on the minutes from the July meeting! Vice-President Mr. Rick Lonski and Treasurer Mrs. Terri Lonski did a fine job too! So too did membership officer Mr. Ogden! Member Mike Spinetti is recovering from serious surgery and we wish him well! Doug Saito's CHIP CHAT AUCTION is now rescheduled for November!
If you live in Las Vegas or are coming to town and are even remotely interested in casino memorabilia and/or a good time you should drop by!
