~~~ and was way too tall to let it continue growing with main stem damage... So had to chop it up into several pieces in order to save it and then reassembled all the keikis and base section on to a driftwood mount (while the crown section recovered off to the side) where it started attaching its roots to hold on and regain strength. Then, the crown section went into spike, bud and bloomed exactly one year to the day of its last flowering and the year prior. All documented; filmed, from when it was one giant plant and then cut up and then affixed on to the driftwood... and this spike pushed out where it should have up the stem.
Not an uncommon practice, though not always a success.
