...this chip has always annoyed me - a 25p chip (25 pence) and while technically it is probably correct, no-one would usually use the denomination followed immediately by the decimal place. Guess I get more picky as I get older . I just don't understand why they didn't simply say 25p, and especially as many UK casinos use black for their £25 chips I can see how people could have thought that at first glance it was a £25 chip (certainly I have seen that description on Ebay in the past).

As for the century issue, depends on your definition. I had this 'debate' with a teacher friend who made the point that a century could be considered exactly 100 years but you have to define the starting point (and so the lack of a year zero doesn't make a difference if you consider the 31st December xx99 to be the last date of a century) or simply that a century is the description of any set of years that start with the same 2 digits (in which case, probably another argument, the first century AD was only 99 years long!). Either way, this one is always open to debate - usually after a few drinks
