Something fishy here. Bought a Reno Peppermill Oceano $1 chip at the Convention, not sure I had one; just now beginning to go through my Nevada purchases, and found another Oceano Fish in my album. That would be the end of it, except:
The fish on the chip I recently bought is a darker color than one I got a year or two back. Not a question of sun-fading on my watch, unless the chip is slowly fading on its own. The center of the fish is almost white on one chip, much darker on the other; the tail is so dark it just about fades into the background water design. Other colors are darker as well, including the twilight sky over the hotel on the reverse.
The chip was made by Blue Chip Co., known for color variations (most famously, the Tropicana Las Vegas). Anyone else know of color variations in these Peppermill chips? Different enough to submit to ChipGuide - or just more of the typical Blue Chip color screw-ups?
The outer ring color itself is different, as may be seen when the two Oceano chips are held side-by-side. Cat Trac Truck agrees!
