I really don’t know...could be for Silver dollars...slot tokens...or chips. All seem to fit the mold.

They are scratched a bit...don’t think the chips would do too much damage...so I’m thinking metal (dollars or tokens)
MGM Grand in Reno didn’t open until late 1970’s, so I’m thinking slot tokens in the machines?
