Remember, after carving the front, you have to then carve the back (below is both sides). It’s amazing how they do it.

From what I’ve been told, the process is as follows: dye the entire chip. Place dyed chip on a lathe and remove a micro then layer of dye and ivory to reveal a white center. Send chip to the next station - the ring guy. He places the chip on a lathe and produces a perfect ring. The chip then goes to the leaf guy who specializes in leaves. Finally the most experienced carver gets the chip and adds the numbers.

Depending on the size of the set, the 50 is carved 50 to 200 times at least. For a club that may order several hundred then that would be several hundred times two.
