I got back late last night from Atlantic City and had a couple of Doctor's appointments today so I did not have time to post the answer to my Roulette Quiz until now.
The answer to the Roulette Quiz is - There are 162 different individual bets that can be "placed" on a Double Zero Roulette Layout !!
There may be some question about the 0 - 00 courtesy line bet - but I consider that a separate spot on the layout where a bet can be "placed".
Shown below is a picture of an old early 1900s layout which shows ALL 162 bets - go ahead and count them !! Also shown is a Roulette Pay-out card showing the various types of bets that can be placed including the Courtesy Line bet..
There are 149 Inside bets - 8 bets on the Top Line (6 white chips and 2 black chips),138 other Inside bets (white chips) and 3 Green 0- 00 bets (white chips). There are 12 Outside bets (green chips) and the Courtesy Line 0-00 bet(pink chip) for a Grand Total of 162 bets.
Mark F. had the closest guess of 161 so I am declaring him the winner of the Roulette Quiz. He was not sure about the Courtesy Line bet being considered a different bet. I explained to him my thoughts on the fact that it was a separate bet that could be "Placed" on a different spot on the layout even though it was the same bet as actually splitting the two 0's by placing a chip between the 0 and 00.
Yesterday while I was in Atlantic City - I actually placed all 8 bets on the Top Line of the layout - really crowded and I had to tell the Dealer exactly which bets I was placing as I covered all the possible bets. Unfortunately none of the 8 bets was a winner.
Take care,
"Mr. Roulette"
