I posted this below in response to the thread on excesive P&S by an eBay dealer.
How much profit do you think is in a chip that is sold for face value?... I
am a broker and supply a service to people who want my services.... these
items do not belong to me and at some the prices the owners want to sell
their wares for does not leave a lot of profit for me or them... the
handling charge... which is stated in the description of the auction...
helps to offset some of the costs of seeing these auctions from start to
finish to include taking and posting of pictures, composing and posting of
auction, record keeping, emails from start to finish to include redoing
multiple auctions, preparing for shipping, shipping costs and getting them
to the post office which entails sometimes waiting in long lines... or
taking them someplace that ships UPS... plus the insertion fees, final fees
and fees from accepting credit cards... hope this helps you to understand
the reason for a handling charge which is common practice in mail order...
if you think that $3.00 per item is excessive I would really recommend that
you not buy from me.. also if you ever are looking for a job you can work
for me any time.... for I see that you have very little value place on time
and work... thanks for your interest and you have a nice day... and if you
truly believe that I am breaking eBays rules I suggest you report me... we
need more watchdogs like you to keep eBay safe from people like me who want
to offer an item to people who want it at a fair price for all involve and
not just the bidder..
Respectfully
Nicky
