... were the first 50's oldies collection LPs I bought as a young DJ when I was coming up in the business and trying to learn about the history of Top 40 music... I'm celebrating my 50th year in radio this year, so you can see how far ahead of me Art Laboe has always been!
I started in radio as a high school teenager in the summer of 1969 - the first record I ever played on the air was "Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival... it was a huge summer not just for music (One/Three Dog Night, Crystal Blue Persuasion/Tommy James & the Shondells, Spinning Wheel/Blood, Sweat & Tears, Honky Tonk Women/Rolling Stones, In The Year 2525/Zager & Evans, Sweet Caroline/Neil Diamond...) but for major news events as well - the Moon Landing, Chappaquiddick, Woodstock, the Manson Killings, and on and on.
How time flies when you're having a good time!
