That's a very good point, Pete. Such information may save a collector from being snagged by those who are trying to rip us.
I received one or two emails from persons who I asked on this board about what's going on, and one was polite enough to actually describe what stands out in the altered chip. I don't remember it all, but it had something to do with the edge of the piece. Perhaps that buyer can explain to us what he told me and what to look for when examining brass core chips.
I also feel that if and when Jim completes his investigation that he not only submits it to the club, but to us as well... and at the exact same time... regardless of what the club decides to do with the information. Furthermore, I do not think just one person should investigate such complaints.
