Victor:
Here is a GREAT book on craps. It's called "Craps; Take Money and Run" by Henry J. Tamburin.
And actually all you have to read is the first four chapters. Because he explains the best bets to make (The Pass or Don't Pass Line, Odds on those two bets, and the Come/ Don't come bets, also with odds). The rest of the book is dedicated to why all the rest of the bets have a bigger house edge then those four bets.
I was also very intimidated by the game, but go downtown to Binion's or see "The General" at the Four Queens and you will find a friendly low minimum wager.
Also, One thing I highly recommend is to get a spot next to one of the dealers, and tip them right away. Then ask any questions you may have and they will help you out.
