If you look at a streetview of the OTHER SIDE of Ventura Place, you will see "The Coaster" in its amusement park. The Coaster Saloon at 744 Ventura Place also had a set of chips, quite recently - maybe 12 or more designs in all, showing various poker hands. These were used as drink chips, one would buy a bunch and then be able to treat a whole bunch of friends to $3 beers. I could find no parking in Mission Beach and had to leave Cat Trac Truck in a public park on one of the "islands" and walk 3/4 of a mile to get back to Ventura Place. And when I got to the Coaster, I was told they no longer have or use those chips! So, yeah, I walked right by the former site of Bobby Phillips' venture, whatever it might have been. My feet still remember that afternoon. They say:
