Hello Mike,
I wrote the Orbit Inn article and I am very happy to hear you liked it. I have writing for the magazine since 2012 and nothing brings me more joy than feedback like yours. I live on the east coast and have a full-time job so contributing to the Club magazine is my small way of giving back.
I too was fascinated with the $100 chip which got me collecting Orbit Inn items. Thank you for sharing your discovery about the 25¢ chip variations – I love finding new casino collectibles and sharing them, especially on the Chip Guide. I did not mention the explosion at the Orbit Inn because it was covered a few years ago in the Club magazine.

I want to comment on one item from your post; your desire for more casino articles in the magazine.
Each issue is 80 pages and more than half of that is dedicated to the same information (CCA information, Mag info/Club, Table of Contents, ANA/CCGTCC.com, advertising info, Prez/Ed letters, new members, Local Clubs, mentoring, member letters/articles, Members Corner, In Memoriam, Club Merchandise, LOGO Usage and Claims/Rewards) and advertising, both which are very important. Although this does not change much I am certain it still requires a great deal of efforts by the editors, BoD and other key Club members to keep it up to date and relevant. That leaves about 30-35 pages for submitted content from Club members.
Current editors Robb & Steve plus past editor Todd have always been supportive to me as a submitter. None of my articles have ever been turned down. I have never been given any direction or limitations on what to write about or how many pages. I have the Adobe InDesign software used to create the magazine and have 100% freedom over my own layouts too.
I have had as many as 7 pages of articles in a single issue. Unfortunately that tells me that not many other Club members submit articles. I end almost every article offering to research/write articles that other Club members would like to see and/or offer to help write articles. My attempt earlier this year with “Show & Tell” never got off the ground because getting input from other Club members was challenging. It was disappointing to me but thankfully I have lots of other ideas to keep me busy writing.
Bottom line – if you want to see more or specific articles in the magazine then please contribute. I reiterate my offer to help anyone with content, research, images, editing, etc. You can check with Club members that worked with me on previous articles. I always send that person a copy of the article for their approval and recognize when others have contributed (especially The Chip Rack & Chip Guide).
The magazine is great for the Club for both existing and prospective new members. With your help and the help of other Club members we can keep it that way.
Thanks again for your feedback on the Orbit Inn article!
