Rich Burgel's below post about "Who Remembers The Stardust" jogged my memory of a chip I collected at a flea market in Canton, Texas. It's a $5 Stardust that was in a vendor's showcase. When I saw it, I said could I look at the chip -- as one side was perfect. When I turned it over, I saw the scorched chip. I asked what happened to it, and he said his dad worked for remediation company that got the contract to clean up after the Stardust casino fire. He said his dad told him it was under a piece of carpet (burn marks verify or it looks like a weave pattern over the chip that could have been exposed to great heat. The dealer told me he had several people look at the chip, but all refused to buy it after seeing the damage. He said I could have it for just $5, and I accepted. I liked the story and it makes sense. I believe the dealer's story..what do you think?
