Today is ashtray day. I know for a fact that there are at least 65 different Thunderbird ashtrays. I am short a few but have seen them in person and or have pictures of them. I am not an expert on ashtrays by no means as I only collect Thunderbird items. There are so many factors in determining the difference between one ashtray from another that look similar and sometimes the difference is small. Here is a small list of things to look for: Shape ( round, square, rectangle, hexagon, oval, etc ), material composition ( glass, metal, ceramic, etc ), color ( if glass - clear, smoke, amber, green, blue, etc ), # of cigarette slots, shape of cigarette slots ( standard, flared on end, sides sloped, etc. ), graphics on bottom, color of graphics, writing on bottom ( block, cursive, all caps, capital first letter, size, height, may have over color on bottom after lettering and graphics put on such as ( white, black, yellow, etc. ) I think I took pictures of about 40 different ashtrays from the Thunderbird.
