Taken advantage of by a Chip Club member

Last week I posted a picture of chips I found at the Santee Swap meet in San Diego (post dated 9/24/18). I didn't know anything about the chips and asked in the post: "Any info on them. Are they casino chips?" I didn't expect there was anything valuable. The chips were dry and half were warped.

I received an e-mail from Jerry Birl asking me to call him.

He wanted all the Aberdeen Athletic Club chips I had that weren't damaged and one each of everything else. There were 7 undamaged AAC chips. He said he could pay me $125 for all 14 chips. I agreed to send him the chips, surprised that I could get that much. I photographed them before I mailed them, see photo below.

Someone else wanted an AAC chip and was willing to take one of the warped chips indicating there was some demand even for the damaged ones. I then listed a slightly warped AAC chip with a starting bid of $15 on eBay. It sold 5 days later for $203.50. I communicated with one of the non-winning bidders and he informed me "they were a pretty rare crest and seal chip."

It appears predatory if someone asks for info on chips on this board for an experienced chip collector and club member to offer to buy all the undamaged chips for less than a 10th of their value and not inform the seller that they are rare and have significant value.
