Rich, the airfield by the Sahara was Rockwell Field built in 1918 by Leon and Earl Rockwell.
Airmail service between LA and Las Vegas was begun in 1926. Pictures are from Stan Paher's
book on Las Vegas. Another great book is "Landing in Las Vegas". Also the air museum at
the airport is really good-run by Mark Hall-Patton. McCarran field was originally called
Alamo Field.
