to the extent that the different bets give different advantages to the casino. Some get very close to even and, of course, the odds addition to a line bet is the only bet for which the casino has no advantage at all. The horn bets can be quite disadvantageous. Big 6 and Big 8 are the real sucker bets. They are the same as bets placed on the 6 and 8, but the payout is smaller. There is never any reason for anyone to ever make a Big 6 or Big 8 bet unless they don't understand the game. The value of a Field bet depends on whether the 12 pays double or triple. Triple pays are very rare these days, but they make the bet viable if you want more money on the table. I used to see them a lot in Reno in the 90's. In truth, the game is all about hoping for streaks and taking the most advantage of them, while keeping your investment low until a streak starts.
