Back in the mid 90's, I was visiting downtown Las Vegas, and we found ourselves at the Pioneer Club.
Funny as it sounds, the big bar there had karaoke singing. (this was midday, not even at night)
Well, after a few drinks, I had the brilliant idea to put my name on the list and sing. Mind you I am THE worst singer on planet Earth.
Normally I wouldn't even consider it, but hell I was in Vegas and had some liquid courage in me.
So I wrote my name and song title on the list and gave it to the bartender so I would be on the rotation.
After about 10 minutes it was my turn and they cued up my song on the TV with the lyrics, etc. and much to my HORROR I chose the wrong song!
I wanted to sing Space Oddity by David Bowie (The Major Tom song) which I could prolly stumble my way through it.
INSTEAD, I mistakenly chose Rocket Man by Elton John..A song I would absolutely butcher beyond belief.
Too late to change or run so I sang the absolutely worse rendition you can imagine..absolutely embarrassing.
Well to make the long story short we go home the next day, and right after that I hear that the Pioneer CLOSED its doors after being open for over 50 years.
To this day I am somewhat convinced my singing had a part of the demise of the Pioneer Club.
