An eBay sham which turned out in my favor.

These two plaques were listed in eBay France. Within minutes of me jumplng on them I was outbid buy a few well known French collectors at the time (not a problem) and then when I rebid it all kicked in, big time. The auction was being watched by a few folks whom I was very close with in Europe and who informed me they will keep their distance (not uncommon in Europe) and wished me good luck. I wanted the pair and was prepared to win the auction at any cost (or almost at any cost 😀). Then, when things started to get crazy; I get an email from a hobby historian in Belgium informing in me that one of the bidders (who has never bid on a chip, previously) lives within walking distance of the seller. Still not a problem for me being a player who was virtually blind at that moment not realizing what was going down. Then, all of a sudden, all bids started to vanish and eBay informs me I am winning high bidder... Thus my reason since 1997 [there were a few other times eBay jumped in back then] that I always stood up for them.
